Frequently closets, cabinets, shelves, and even attics are full of valuable items.
We always recommend that families meet to choose a spokesperson or referee to help fairly distribute items to family members based on the ground rules that all members of the family agree on. It is easier said than done, but it does help if everyone can agree on a family member to handle this task.
Then, if possible, distribute items in a fair manner, keeping in mind that all family members will share in the proceeds from the Estate Sale, so it is in everyone’s best interest to sell most of the items.
Also, although it is tempting to sell everything to one estate dealer, that dealer is a professional and may offer less than you could get in a full sale.
